Dear NSA Families:
Record turnout for the Board election
We would like to thank those who took the time to learn more about each candidate and vote on this important school function. We hope the Candidate Forum along with the candidate profiles on the webpage assisted in making your decision. In addition, we sincerely thank both Nigel Brownjohn and Rich D'Amato for their interest in and support of our school. After a record voter turnout, it came down to a small margin of votes with Nigel Brownjohn receiving 141 votes and Rich D'Amato receiving 126. Congratulations, Nigel! We are pleased to welcome him to the Board.
A heartfelt thank you…
Lorrie Grove's Board of Director's term ended in March. Lorrie has been a great asset to the NSA community and her leadership and dedication on the Board will be greatly missed. Lorrie, Rick and their two children are a founding family at North Star Academy and have been with us since well before the doors opened in Parker. Lorrie's mark on North Star can be seen everywhere: whether it is the design of our plaid skirts, the school logo, the large silver sign on the front of the school or the wonderful press coverage the school has received.
Please take a minute to thank her for sharing her time, talent and treasures with the NSA community.
The Board is focusing on the budget
There was much discussion at our last board meeting around the 2010-2011 budget for NSA. With the economic downturn in Colorado, the Governor and state legislature is expected to cut school funding by seven to ten percent for the 2010-2011 school year. Board discussions centered on setting priorities when considering any potential budget reductions.
Join us for "Bagels with Board" to share your thoughts
After the success of Ms. Haws' coffee sessions, we are unabashedly copying her. We hope the sessions will be an informal place for open discussion and a chance for the Board to hear your thoughts. We would love to hear from you, so please plan on joining us.
Join us on Thursday, April 22nd at 8:30 a.m. for our first get together in the NSA cafeteria. Please RSVP by clicking this link.
Please be sure to read the monthly Board minutes posted on the NSA website (click link) .
Sincerely,
NSA Board
